Spotlight On: Marius, Category Manager

In the interview, he talks about what makes his job so exciting, why it has nothing to do with working in a "quiet room" and what you need to bring to the table to become Marius colleague.

Hi Marius, great to have you here! Please tell us who you are and what you do at ProSiebenSat.1.

Happy to be here! Im Marius, and Ive been in the company for five years now, working as a Category Manager in Corporate Procurement. During my studies in business administration, I did an internship in procurement at ProSiebenSat.1 and liked it so much that I wanted to come back. In strategic procurement, we are responsible for all procurement projects within the company and support our departments in fulfilling their needs at the best value for money.

You mentioned that your department is responsible for all procurement projects within the company - that sounds quite a lot. How is your department structured?

Absolutely. Corporate Procurement is actually a quite large department and divided into three different units. The unit I work in is called Technology & General Services (TGS). Here, for example, we take care of the procurement of licenses, servers, cloud computing, but also cleaning, postal or construction services as well as travel management. Another procurement unit is called Marketing, Production & Consulting (MPC). Here, colleagues procure, among other things, creative and performance agencies, but also cameras, lighting and broadcasting technology, as well as all consulting and HR services, events, and much more. And last but not least, the Procurement Excellence (PE) unit supports the other two with data analysis, defines company-wide procurement processes, and provides the necessary systems. As you can see its a nice mix that makes working in the media industry so special and diverse for me.

"Procurement Managers are sometimes said to work a lot behind closed doors - which is not true, as we are actually very visible and active networkers here"

What do you think future procurement colleagues should bring to the table?

In general, its essential to network and communicate within the ProSiebenSat.1 Group. We manage our projects with a high degree of personal responsibility, make many decisions ourselves, and communicate directly and reliably. Of course, an affinity for numbers and negotiation skills are also important. We have a really good reputation within the company and are perceived as an important department and sparring partner. Thats what makes working here so enjoyable!

We need you!
