Hi Sophie, you were there live at the Allianz Para Trophy - how was it?
On Saturday, I was able to watch the final mens singles and mens doubles matches of the Allianz Para Trophy live. In the doubles, Frederic Cattaneo (FRA) and Stephane Houdet (FRA) played an exciting match with the two Germans Anthony Dittmar and Christoph Wilke. The French won the doubles and it was really impressive how they performed on the court.
And how was the singles match?
Martin De La Puente (Spain) and Gordon Reid (Great Britain) met in the singles. We initially thought that Reid would win the match, but then the Spaniard won the second and third sets by 7 games each - and not without some heated exchanges and exciting moments. It was a real tennis duel at the highest level.
What was the atmosphere like on the court?
Despite the mixed weather, the atmosphere was great. The spectators cheered along with the players and it was inspiring to see the best wheelchair tennis players competing on the court.
And your personal highlight?
That was when I met Gordon Reid on the course in the afternoon and was able to take a photo with him. Simply an impressive sportsman!
Thank you very much for the exciting insights Sophie and congratulations to all athletes, for whom the tournament meant world ranking points for the first time!
